How is Upper Eyelid Surgery performed? An incision is made within the natural fold of the upper eyelid and may reach to the outer corners of the eyes. Excess skin and fat is then removed. Once completely healed, the incision is camouflaged. Upper Blepharoplasty may be done with local anesthetic in certain patients. An incision is made either below the lower lashes or inside the lower eyelid. Excess skin, muscle, and fat are then removed. Sometimes the fat is redistributed to eliminate puffiness, and a laser may also be used to tighten the lower eyelid skin. Once completely healed, the incision is camouflaged.
