Smartlipo has been gaining a quite a bit of attention from important national media, such as USA Today, People Magazine and Good Morning America. That is probably attributed to its revolutionary technology.  A small tube is inserted into areas that have deposits of excess fat and a laser ruptures the fat cells. ■ Smartlipo vs. Liposuction

Liposuction loosens and sculpts fat with a cannula (a hollow tube inserted through the skin) and removed from the body immediately with vacuum suctioning. Smartlipo is less invasive because it is performed with local anesthetic and the small incision of the  laser’s tube does not require stitches or cause bruising.

For starters, the downtime and costs differ greatly between the two procedures.
